Checking In - Busy Bee's

"The truth is maybe we are just average. But the way I see it — families where parents get up every morning and go to jobs that are hard so they can get their kids through school and through life, and struggle to make it all work and manage to do it with dignity and a little humor — well, that's not average. That's extraordinary. "

March, Already?

It is scary to think that we are approaching Spring already! The days and months seem to go by quicker with each passing year. 2017 is already proving itself to be complicating and giving more busy work than we are accustom to, never the less nothing we can't handle. Winter was and has been brutal on our troop as everyone just couldn't escape catching the many bugs going around; because of this I've had less time to and more time to care for our sick ducklings.

We had quite a few celebrations this last month, birthdays that is! Aside from a few strays most of the birthdays in our household are close together and a little too close to the holidays if you ask me.!!! Our son Maikel hit the double digits on the 9th!! He is a whole 10 years old now! Time fly's by so quickly, one minute you're changing their diapers and buckling them tightly in a car seat, the next minute they are independent and turning into little adults. I have to say, Maikel is becoming quite the handsome kid! He is coming into the stage where he is finding himself by showing more of his personality and developing his own unique style. He isn't the only one growing up on us though; our Tuka mama, Kwauntya, just celebrated her 4th birthday on Sunday; just like the hard headed trooper she is, she wasn't going to let a little fever ruin her weekend! All 13 of us relaxed around the house all weekend, the kids all danced their little hearts out and our family came together and celebrated the birth days of our amazing... and spoiled little noodles! I have never been so happy to have so many loved ones under one roof celebrating life, joy and making remarkable memories.

Looking back, as a child I would have never believed I would be what I am today; I was an independent, stubborn and hard headed girl who wanted nothing more than to be a free girl - no husband, no children, no responsibilities... just freedom. The fact that I never wanted a child surprises me. I guess it's easy to say when you don't truly know nor understand what being a mom is truly about and the rewards that come with it. If one woman can manage 8-13 children every weekend, she was meant to be a superhero! Family's are a true blessing and the greatest gift in life. Enjoy your families as if it's the last day, never be afraid to make memories and regret nothing, not even what you eat.

"The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together." ~Erma Bombeck
