Forgotten Savings

Those who know me know that I am not afraid to try little things that add to savings, within reason. I’ve tried several survey sites and a lot of them are a bust but there are actually quite a few good ones out there. I thought that I would help a few of you out and share a few things that I have learned, tried and/or been turned on to. Keep in mind this isn’t going to replace a full-time job or pay you anywhere close to it, depending on the time you spend you can earn gas money or coffee money. Whatever it is, it will benefit you somehow.
This all started with my mother in law, we were sitting at the table and she had asked if I had tried out this site called Ebates, I wasn’t sure what she was talking about at first but then she started going into detail. I had a few moments at work to look so I checked it out, signed up and quickly realized that this would have been VERY beneficial during the daunting task of Christmas shopping. Sites that I had purchased from had anywhere from 1% to 10% cash back and let me tell you, I spent a lot of money this year buying for 8 kids and 5 adults. Going forward, the things that I purchase online all the time, will now be contributing to my forgotten savings, they’ll pay me to shop now! There are even in store cash back options by linking your debit or credit cards. The savings on this site are sent to you by whichever means you arrange, apply them towards your savings or buy yourself that weekly coffee you have been dreaming about.
The good news doesn’t stop there! There are so many ways to generate some small income by doing things online. One site that I like to use, and have used several times in the past is called InboxDollars. I used this site a lot about a year ago and was able to get about $160 from different tasks like shopping, surveys and playing games; even just checking my email they paid me $0.02 per email. As I sat here thinking about my New Years goals and wanting to gain back my financial discipline I thought about how doing these little things in my spare time could help boost my savings, maybe even just generating a Christmas Savings fund off these sites alone. Anything helps right?!?
I am looking into other possible leads but figured I would share with you, the most promising thus far. Try them out, it doesn’t hurt. The worst thing you can do is ignore the great advise I just gave you, lol. Just like I could have used it during Christmas, maybe you could have too.
GREAT ADVICE: One last thing before I go, a great way to save is to forget your savings all together. Try using your earnings from these sites and adding them to your phantom savings, just let it sit there; the return on interest won’t always be beneficial but forgetting that you have that money can. Just remember that all the little pennies really do add up in the end.
